The Maw of the Dragon
The Gnawed Noble Tavern
Amongst the various thatched cottages of Telle, the Gnawed Noble stands out as a great bastion of stone and woodwork (and, by association, a considerable amount of woodworm). The pungent smell of ale, those who enjoy drinking it, and the products of having drunk too much emanates for some distance around. Outside the front door there is a man relieving himself onto the wall, muttering quietly to himself. Upon entering through the heavy oaken door, the full atmosphere of the tavern hits you. Songs about mining and gold rattle the rafters, along with chants and the hammering of empty mugs on tables while the diminuitive barman struggles with the enormous pewter tankards. When the crowd sees you enter through the door, they cheer and several strong worker’s hands pull you into a drinking circle. You each have a tankard thrust upon you.
Things that happen:
- Random chants such as “Beer, beer, beer, tiddly-beer, beer, beer, tiddly-…” as tankards of ale are downed, PCs will have their names chanted (“I like to drink with ____ because ____ is my mate…”).
- Random bar fight (short and sweet) with insults http://www.worldofmi.com/gamehelp/insults/mi1.php.
- Any non-drinkers will notice Korgan Bloodaxe sitting alone in the corner, still clad fully in platemail. He will greet a PC with an insult, but persistance brings a side-quest.
- Tumble Woodwhisper will jump in to break up any large-scale fights with an inexplicably powerful punch. He will introduce himself to the PCs at some point.
